Sushila Shankarrao Gadhave Mahavidyalaya, Khandala islocated in Khandala city near Pune-Bangalore highway in Satara district. Considering the demand of under graduate education for the students, senior college was established by Khandala Vibhag Shikshan Samiti, Khandala in June 2007. The Institute is one of the renowned educational institutes in western Maharashtra established in 1954 by the social reformers of Khandala region and the Mill workers working in Mumbai.

The college has been providing quality education up to the degree level in Arts, Commerce and Science faculties. The college is working in hilly area of Khandala Panchkroshi.

In June 2007, the institute established the college with the name “Rajendra Mahavidyalaya, Khandala” affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur on permanent non-grant basis. Considering the need ofprofessional education, the college also started vocational degree course in B.C.A. from June 2008 on permanent non-grant basis.

As a teacher Hon. Shrimati Sushila Shankarrao Gadhave former member of Zilla Parishad, Satara provided a long term knowledge service in this institution. During her service she was honored with "Ahilyabai Holkar" award by Zilla Parishad Satara. She also received a special award for educational and social work from Hon. Sadiq Ali, Governor of Maharashtra State. Up to the year 2005 there was no other means of under graduate education for the boys and girls in and around Khandala panchkroshi. It was highly impossible and not affordable financially for the girl students to take under graduate education outside. So she forcefully put her demand before Khandala Vibhag Shikshan Samiti for establishing senior college. The people of this region supported strongly to her vision of higher education. As a result senior college in the name of " Rajendra Mahavidyalaya, Khandala" commenced from the year 2007 on permanent non-grant basis. The college is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur running with B.A., B.Com., B.Sc. and BCA courses. After her demise, by considering her social and educational work, 'Rajendra Mahavidyalaya, Khandala’ has been renamed as Sushila Shankarrao Gadhave Mahavidyalaya, Khandala from June 2019.

The college made a beginning with 240 students. Today’s strength is about 500 students. Our students have excellent academic records at the university level. They also have good achievements in Sports, N.S.S., N.C.C., cultural activities, college magazine competition at the university, state and national levels.

The college is providing facilities of degree education in English, Hindi, Economics, Geography and History under Arts faculty and also degree education in Chemistry and Mathematics under Science faculty. The college feels proud of its alumni which have been rendering valuable service for the society in different fields. The college has also good support services in the form of Science Laboratories, Library, Boys room, Ladies room, Parking, Playground etc. The institute has also made available Yashvantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Nashik’s distance education centre in our college campus.

The institute has appointed well-qualified teaching staff and efficient administrative staff. I am proud of my college. I express my deep sense of gratitude to the President Hon. Shri.
